Author

Author, King’s Cross estate’s first Build-to-Rent development is now complete. The scheme is one of the concluding pieces within the King’s Cross masterplan, comprised of two mixed-use residential buildings (W1 and W2) and one community-focused building (W3). David Morley Architects are the masterplan architect for the development and the detail architect for W2, with W1 authored by FCBStudios and W3 by Haptic. Located at the north of the triangular site, W1 will inject character and rhythm into its prominent and historic siting.

Conran and Partners were appointed as the Interior Designer for W1’s ground floor reception and amenities area, encompassing a series of lounges, party rooms, screening room and gym spaces. Responding to the richness of both the emerging and historic context, Conran and Partners’ vision channels a sense of ‘urbanised nature’: the project reinterprets the urban aesthetic while embodying the natural sensibility.

The scheme, which includes 182 apartments, will establish a new residential community centered around elevated public space and communal facilities, forging a unique sense of place within central London. The Author development was completed in 2023.
