Salford Quays

Manchester
A contextual residential development in a historically unique waterfront destination. Adjacent to Manchester’s Media City, the development forms part of an area-wide regeneration on the former Manchester Docks site.
Since the early 2000s, City Lofts has been delivering significant apartment schemes in key regional cities that focus primarily on compact, modern and inviting apartments.
Completed in July 2007, Salford Quays comprises two linked nine and 19 storey residential towers. Conran and Partners confident design is given a distinctive character with full-height glazing, almond Prodema panelling, aluminium spandrels and white render, ideal for the thriving waterfront quarter.
City Lofts’ apartments were very much aimed at the rental market, particularly younger renters who were likely to move between a number of different spaces in their early years. As a result, the individual apartments are designed to be compact but flexible. Bedrooms can be opened out to living rooms, omitting corridors and creating a frontage that feels like a single, linear space to present a sense of spatial generosity.
Kitchens and bathrooms were manufactured off-site using a highly efficient and cost-effective production and delivery process. This enabled quality finishes and crisp detailing to be brought up to a level normally very difficult to achieve on site within the budget.
