Greenwich Peninsula

London
Conran and Partners were asked by developer – Knight Dragon to design the interiors of two new residential towers within the Lower Riverside quarter of the peninsula. The regeneration of the Greenwich Peninsula represents one of the most ambitious urban projects in London for many years.
The two buildings – known as The Lighterman and The Waterman – are punctuated by communal courtyards, plazas and landscaped spaces at ground level, while the apartments within them offer views across the river and to the outstretched city beyond. The development includes 102 private and 123 affordable homes, stunning penthouse apartments and contemporary communal amenity spaces.

The practice drew inspiration from the history and context of Greenwich and its riverside setting. The Waterman adopts contrasting tones within a textural palette of light and dark shades, while introducing materials and finishes such as brass and ironwork that reference the industrial history of the peninsula. The Lighterman adopts a softer, tonal approach in terms of its colours and finishes, whilst similarly offering a bold contemporary character.
