On Cloud Nine

London

An interactive and playful pop up. Instilling the feeling of being on cloud nine amongst the bustle of a busy trade show. On Cloud Nine was both a hospitality lounge and an interactive art installation. Created over two days at the Independent Hotel Show in London, Conran and Partners translated an emotional feeling into a physical space.

A blue-white gradient around the edge of the space created a limitless horizon, and the entire area was bathed in a white glow. Comfortable wingback chairs, cushions, and a steady supply of featherlight refreshments – fluffy meringues and jasmine flower tea – completed the immersive experience.

The cloud itself was constructed from a million meters of cotton hung from the ceiling and cut into a billowing canopy. Acoustically, the installation also absorbed the show’s noise and bustle to create a haven of calm. Visitors were furnished with fetching, gradient-printed tote bags, allowing them to take the feeling of being on cloud nine with them.
