NEWS: Conran and Partners joins DLR Group

Body Of Architecture

Conran and Partners, Belgian fashion designer Katerin Theys and Danish textile company Kvadrat came together to collaborate on Body of Architecture, an installation and pop-up for London Design Festival that explored the relationship between clothing, textiles, material and architecture. Initiated by Conran and Partners, who brought Theys and Kvadrat together, the project was presented at the London studio from 15–18 September.

Working with Kvadrat textiles originally created for interiors and upholstery, Katerin has developed a capsule collection around a single coat form, exploring how its character and structure can be transformed through different fabrics and ways of wearing it.

The textiles include Firo, a play on classic tartan infused with shimmery yarns, and a newly updated colour of Hallingdal 65, Kvadrat’s first textile, designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1965. The underlying architecture of each piece remains the same, but each textile gives the form a distinctly different expression. The construction itself is adaptable: sleeves can be removed and repositioned, while the coat can be wrapped and configured in different ways.
