The Peninsula Boutique & Café
Following the success of the Boutique & Café at Peninsula’s flagship Hong Kong hotel, Conran and Partners was appointed to reimagine this concept for the brand’s debut UK hotel.
Together with the neighbouring Flower Atelier, an exquisitely crafted flower shop selling seasonal floral delights also designed by Conran and Partners, the café forms the key entrance to The Peninsula hotel via the driveway leading into the courtyard.
As the main gateway into the hotel, these spaces reflect The Peninsula’s elegant brand identity and historical significance. Therefore, Conran and Partners opted for spaces that are colour-blocked in the iconic Peninsula green to allow guests to fully immerse into the brand from the moment they enter.
While staying true to the existing brand, additional elements have been introduced to elevate the overall experience and look of the new Peninsula Boutique & Café and Flower Atelier.
A stand-out feature in both spaces and the most dramatic element is the shape and height; the narrow floor plan combined with the double height ceilings. Taking advantage of these unusual dimensions, in the Boutique & Café, Conran and Partners created a full-height joinery unit along the full length of the space to showcase The Peninsula’s own product.
Having established the design guidelines for the broader Boutique & Café brand, Conran and Partners meticulously crafted every aspect of the space, from the elegant, curved counters to the signage and shelving, all harmonised with the brass lighting fixtures.
