Rüya, meaning ‘dream’ in Turkish, is a new dining concept designed that explores the rich history and diversity of Anatolian food. The restaurant and bar is the brainchild of Turkish restaurateur Umut Özkanca, backed by d.ream (Restaurant Entertainment and Management Group).

Conran and Partners set out to create a vibrant and contemporary new concept which would showcase the rich heritage of Anatolian and Turkish cuisine but with modern style for a contemporary international audience. The design draws upon elements of Turkish history and the meeting of Eastern and Western cultural influences from the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires to the present day, reinterpreting them in the materials, patterns, textures and colours.

Located in the Grosvenor House Hotel on the Dubai Marina, the original Rüya site venue which opened in 2016, is arranged across 800 m², with capacity for around 230 guests. Dining areas include a bar, lounge, private dining and external terrace offering stunning views of the Marina.

The second site in Mayfair, London, opened in 2018 and is arranged across 560m², with a capacity of around 190 guests. The diesngn includes a 110-cover restaurant, a private dining room and a chef’s table, as well as a lounge bar. The restaurant is in a long linear space animated by areas of activity starting with the bar, the open kitchen and a feature bread oven.

Rüya is the realisation of Umut’s dream to open a sophisticated, international-standard restaurant bringing Anatolian cuisine to the rest of the world. Our interpretation of this captures the fascinating history and craftsmanship of the region reaching from Ottoman Empires and before to today. The idea is to have a DNA that runs through all of the sites so they are recognizable as part of the concept but have a strong identity of their own based on the site and, of course, their locality.”
