‘You must be mad,’ said the Cat, ‘or you wouldn’t have come here.’
A bespoke pop-up bar inspired by the eccentric tale of Alice in Wonderland.

We were chosen to design The Sleep Event’s widely anticipated pop-up bar; the social hub of Europe’s leading exhibition and conference for the global hotel design industry.
The Drink Me Bar explored the ‘Wonder Tales’ theme uniting different elements of the event, drawing on inspiration from the more surreal aspects of Alice in Wonderland as well as other, darker, tales from the German childhood of partner Tina Norden.

Designed by Conran and Partners and produced by Turkish manufacturer Parla Design, the furniture is playful and in keeping with the wonder tales theme. Rounded, grey fabric pebbles create informal seating in the bar area, while wing backed chairs give a sense of privacy for those seeking a more intimate place to break away.

Urban tales at a miniature scale were subtly curated within glass top tables to encourage conversation between visitors of the bar. An ‘open book’ carpet, manufactured by Edge Carpets is a modern mash-up of words written by Conran and Partners to evoke the story of Alice in an urban context.
