A lifestyle-driven reinvention which re-positioned this part of Shoreditch
We have made a series of distinctively characterful spaces accessible and familiar to create an authentic lifestyle destination.

Situated in the now thriving quarter of Shoreditch, Boundary represented a fresh collaboration with Sir Terence Conran and his business partners Vicki Conran and Peter Prescott. Terence acquired a former print works on a relatively open corner site. Here, Conran and Prescott developed ideas for a multi-layered project and asked Conran and Partners to work on the design of the new lifestyle concept.

The building was converted and updated but also extended upwards to create a 17-bedroom boutique hotel, a roof garden with bar and grill, fine dining restaurant, cafe and food store.

Each hotel bedroom has an individual twist, with contemporary design figures such as Sir David Tang, Priscilla Carluccio, Vicki Conran, Polly Dickens and Terence Conran contributing to the design.

The rooftop bar and grill offers both a heated orangery and an outdoor terrace for the warmer months. Looking out across the London skyline, this rooftop retreat with its secret garden has an escapist quality.

Albion – an informal but elegant cafe, bar and grocery store – is located on the ground floor. Understated and crafted, Albion features a palette dominated by timber floors and joinery, exposed brick and semi-industrial lighting. Generous windows allow the space to really connect with the neighbourhood outside.

Below this at basement level we designed a high-end French style restaurant. Combining these various different elements has created a vibrant micro-community within the building, as well as an important local amenity.

‘This is a classy hotel for wised-up jet-setters who care about where they stay. This painstakingly styled hotel seems purpose-built to make architects, designers and food-lovers swoon.’
