Parlé
Sele Istanbul
Interiors

Parlé is a reinterpretation of the classic French brasserie for 21st century Istanbul. The brand and interiors take inspiration from the notion of abundance – of produce, good food, and time for conversation – that’s at the heart of the French dining experience.

Copper details – a reference to traditional French cookware – feature throughout: inlayed into the black and white marble floor, topping the cocktail bar, on menus and napkin rings. Two dramatic, custom-designed copper chandeliers light the high-ceilinged space, and copper flagons nestle among the wine on the dark timber shelves that line the room.

As a nod to the Paris of old, the menus, matchboxes and uniforms feature etchings of antique spoons, Champagne saucers and tobacco pipes. These are complemented by custom-crafted, French-inspired typography drawing from classic Avant-garde film posters.

Parlé is also full of playful references to abundance. Patrons order from generously proportioned menus, sweeten their coffee with outsized sugar sachets and dine under lavish lighting. Parlé was shortlisted for 'Best European Restaurant' in the 2014 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, and for ‘Best Restaurant Design’ in the 2014 World Interior News Awards.
