We are the proud winners of the Sunday Times British Homes Award for ‘Home of the year’ for our work on Gabriel Square, St Albans with Meyer Homes. The results were unveiled at a gala at the London Marriott hotel in Mayfair.

Aspirational London design | outside the metropolis.

Gabriel Square represents a shift in demand for bespoke residential design outside the M25. Our design concept captures the spirit of zone 1 city living within an unlikely suburban setting and offers an enhanced lifestyle influenced by our experience designing for the hotel market.

We wanted to make a bold statement in St Albans, rather than build a vanilla block of flats. We wanted to change the game in the local market.”

Gabriel Square is a design-driven development with fluid interconnecting spaces planned around the journey and contemporary lifestyle of the end-user. Layering of spaces, enhanced daylight and linear views have created an exciting residential development.

Our interior design approach is inspired by Mid-Century Modern design principals, responding seamlessly to the modernist architecture and the surrounding context of St Albans. This is apparent in the internal proportions, articulated axial views, clean linear detailing, materiality, and tonality.

Wide connecting corridors create a generosity of space, light and views through, with sliding pocket doors encouraging this sense of open-plan living. In the townhouses, a glass light-box on the roof brings natural light through vertically. In some instances, a void on the ground floor enables interaction with the kitchen below.
